what app development
in Wien means

App development in Vienna means an honest pre-check first and implementation second with us. An app in the store pays off when camera, location, notifications or offline operation are needed, or when your users open it daily. In all other cases a web app is cheaper, faster to finish and simpler to run. When we do build, it is usually hybrid for both systems, from 5,000€, and the source code is yours afterwards.

check first, build second

VORPRÜFUNG

In the first conversation we work out who will open the app how often and which device features are genuinely needed. The route follows from that, and quite often it is not the app. That costs us jobs and saves you a five-figure sum for something nobody downloads.

one codebase, two systems

HYBRID // ZWEI STORES

For the vast majority of use cases we build hybrid, meaning one codebase for iOS and Android. That halves the cost against two native versions, and with a normal business application nobody notices the difference. Where speed genuinely matters, we say so.

the code belongs to you

EIGENTUM // CODE

You get the complete source code and the store accounts in your name. That sounds obvious and it is not. Anyone building an app with a supplier who keeps the code cannot switch after two years without redoing everything.

do you really
need an app

For about half the inquiries the most honest answer is no. If nobody needs camera, location or notifications and the thing could run in a browser, a web app is cheaper, faster to finish and simpler to operate. We say so beforehand, because an app sitting in the store that nobody downloads costs more than none at all.

Web appA tool for staff or customers, no store neededIn favourChanges live immediately, no store review, one version for everyoneAgainstNo icon on the home screen, no access to every device feature
Native appCamera, location, notifications or working offlineIn favourFull device features, best performance, findable in the storeAgainstTwo versions for iOS and Android, every change through review
HybridStore presence wanted, but no budget for two versionsIn favourOne codebase for both systems, considerably cheaperAgainstNoticeably slower with very demanding interfaces

If the conversation shows a web app is enough, we take that route. What that means and what it costs is on our page about web app development.

what an app
costs in Wien

An app starts at 5,000€ with us for a clearly defined case with few views and no user accounts. As soon as users log in and data gets stored, the entry point is 12,000€, and with a connection to an ERP or CRM 25,000€. There is no upper limit, demanding applications reach 50,000€. On top come the running costs after launch, which we list openly further down.

I write the quote, I design, I build. You do not get an account manager standing between you and the work, you talk to the same person from the first question until after launch.

If something does not make sense, I say so, even when that makes the project smaller. In the long run that is more pleasant for both sides. For the first two weeks of an app project I would rather sit down with you once in Vienna.

After launch

an app is never
really finished

That is the difference to a website, and it almost never comes up in a quote. Apple and Google release new system versions every year, and the stores regularly require rebuilt versions. Anyone who knows that beforehand plans differently and is not surprised afterwards. So it stands here and not in the fine print.

What keeps running after launch
Apple Developer Programevery year99 USDWithout an active membership the app disappears from the App Store. That happens regularly by accident when a credit card expires.
Google Play Consoleone-time25 USDOne-time registration, no annual renewal. The cheaper of the two stores, but with stricter testing requirements before release.
Adapting to new OS versionstwice a yearby effortApple and Google release new major versions every year. Usually the app keeps working, but small things break, and at some point the store requires a rebuilt version.
Server and databasemonthlyby effortOnly needed when the app stores its own data or has user accounts. A pure information app does not need it. The cost depends on usage, not on the app.
Changes to content and featuresongoingby effortThe biggest item, and the only one you control yourself. Every change has to be rebuilt and go through store review again, which takes one to three days at Apple.

Fees per Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console, as of August 2026. Remaining items qualitative.

Vienna in detail

many ideas,
few carry

Vienna has the densest founder scene in Austria, and accordingly many inquiries start with an app idea rather than a problem. That is not bad, but it often leads to an expensive detour. We flip the order and first ask who will use the thing how often. If the answer is roughly that everyone could need it, nobody is meant yet, and then the first step is not development.

internal tools often need less

A good share of Vienna inquiries concern tools for a company own staff, like field data capture or scheduling. That almost never needs the App Store. A web app you put on your home screen can do the same, is changeable in days instead of weeks and costs a fraction.

we sit in ottakring

On an app project the first two weeks matter most, because that is where it gets decided what goes in and what does not. For that it is better to sit down together once than to hold three video calls. Our office is in Kirchstetterngasse, and in Vienna we are happy to come to you.

why us
and not cheaper

Because we advise against it when it achieves nothing. An agency that lives off apps will rarely say a web app is enough. We build both and therefore have no reason to push you towards the more expensive route. On top of that we put the running costs on the table beforehand instead of after launch. What we are not: a team that throws an app together in four weeks. If that is what you need, you are better off elsewhere.

tell us what
you have in mind

Describe briefly what the app should do and who will use it. You get an honest assessment, even when that assessment is that you do not need an app.

[ FAQ ]

An app starts at 5,000€ with us for a simple case without user accounts, 12,000€ with sign-in and a database and 25,000€ with connections to existing systems. Demanding applications reach 50,000€. On top come the running costs after launch, which we list openly on the page. We name the fixed price as soon as it is clear what the app should do.

For about half the inquiries our answer is no. An app in the store pays off when camera, location, notifications or offline operation are needed, or when your users open it daily. Otherwise a web app is cheaper, faster to finish and simpler to run. We settle that in the first conversation, before anything gets built.

For the vast majority of business applications hybrid, meaning one codebase for iOS and Android. That halves the cost against two native versions, and with normal interfaces nobody notices the difference. We recommend native when speed or very specific device features genuinely matter.

The Apple Developer Program costs 99 US dollars per year, registration with Google Play a one-time 25 US dollars. On top come adaptations to new system versions, which Apple and Google release every year, and server costs if the app stores its own data. We list that openly on the page so there is no surprise later.

Yes, completely, and the store accounts run in your name. That matters more than it sounds: anyone having an app built by a supplier who keeps the code cannot switch after two years without redoing everything.
