what corporate design
actually is

Corporate design is not the logo and not the business card, it is the rule set in between. It defines how the logo gets used, which colours and typefaces apply at which size, and how an advertisement, a presentation or vehicle branding comes out of that. With us that costs from 2,500€ and takes four to six weeks. The result is a style guide plus the templates your team can work with themselves.

decisions made only once

STYLEGUIDE // REGELN

Which grey, which spacing, which type size for a heading. If that is not settled, every supplier decides anew and usually differently. A style guide answers those questions once, after that none of them costs time again.

your team designs along

VORLAGEN // TEMPLATES

Presentations, quotes and social media posts happen in your office, not ours. So you get templates your team fills in themselves. That is the difference between a corporate design that gets lived and one that sits in a folder as a PDF.

the same in both worlds

DRUCK // DIGITAL

Colours look different in print than on screen, and that is physics, not carelessness. We define both values for every colour, so your business card and your website can be held side by side without it showing.

The structure

the layer that is
almost always missing

Almost every company that comes to us has a logo and has printed matter. What is missing is the layer in between. That is why last week folder looks different from last year one, and nobody can say exactly why. It is not bad work, it is that somebody had to decide anew every time.

The three layers and what happens without them
  1. 01

    the brand

Logo, colour values, typefaces. The visible part most people think of first.

Without this layer there is nothing to apply. Almost every company has it.

  2. 02

    the rules

Minimum sizes, clear space, permitted colour combinations, type sizes, what is not allowed. That is the style guide.

This layer is almost always missing. Without it every supplier decides anew, and after two years every printed item looks different.

  3. 03

    the applications

Business card, letterhead, website, social media, vehicle, trade show stand, presentation. Everything the brand lands on.

Without layer two every item here gets decided by hand, and each one costs design time all over again.

Scope of the layers shown qualitatively, without cost figures

which files you
end up with

A corporate design is only worth something when any supplier can work with it immediately, including one you hire three years from now. So we hand everything over in open formats and in the variants print shops and agencies actually ask for.

Logo on the websiteSVGScales without loss to poster size and usually weighs only a few kilobytes.
Logo in Word and PowerPointPNGWith a transparent background and at least 1,000 pixels wide, otherwise it blurs when enlarged.
Photos on the websiteWebPNoticeably smaller than JPG at the same quality. Smaller images mean faster loading, which means better rankings.
Social mediaPNG / JPGEvery channel has its own pixel dimensions. A post in the wrong format gets cropped, usually exactly where the text sits.
Flyer, ad, posterPDF/X-43 mm bleed all round, fonts embedded, colour profile ISO Coated v2. Any print shop takes it without asking questions.
Photos in printTIFF / PDF300 dpi at final size and CMYK instead of RGB. A phone photo is fine for screen, usually not for an A4 ad.
Logo for print shopsPDF / EPSAs a vector with fonts converted to outlines. That way it works on a business card and on a company van alike.

Print specifications per ISO 15930-7 (PDF/X-4) and standard print shop requirements

I write the quote, I design, I build. You do not get an account manager standing between you and the work, you talk to the same person from the first question until after launch.

If something does not make sense, I say so, even when that makes the project smaller. In the long run that is more pleasant for both sides. For the workshop at the start I am happy to come to you in Vienna, that simply works better in person.

when this
pays off

The maths is simpler than it sounds. If more than a handful of printed items, advertisements or presentations happen in your company each year, without a rule set every single one gets designed and coordinated from scratch. From roughly the fifth item, a corporate design is cheaper than the sum of the individual decisions. On top comes the part you cannot calculate: that your company looks like the same company across every channel.

If you have no mark at all yet, start with the logo design from 850€. If the brand including positioning and strategy should be created, branding is the larger frame. And if everything already exists and you only need ongoing design work, graphic design is the right place.

[ FAQ ]

A corporate design starts at 2,500€ with us. That includes the logo, colour and type rules, a complete style guide, business stationery and templates for social media. More extensive projects with brand strategy and all promotional materials come to around 5,000€. If you only need a mark, a logo design from 850€ is enough.

The logo is the mark, the corporate design is the rules around it and their application. So which minimum size applies, how much clear space stays around it, which colour combinations are permitted, and how an advertisement, a presentation or vehicle branding comes out of that. A logo without those rules gets used differently by every supplier.

Four to six weeks. We start with a workshop going through your brand, your values and your audience before we design. Then come drafts, coordination and the artwork for all applications. The slowest part is usually not the design but the coordination inside the company.

Roughly from the fifth item. If more than a handful of printed items, advertisements or presentations happen in your company each year, without a rule set every one of them gets designed and coordinated from scratch. Those individual decisions add up faster than most people expect. On top comes the part you cannot calculate: that your company looks like the same company across every channel.

Yes, and that matters to us. A corporate design is only worth something when any supplier can work with it immediately, including one you hire three years from now. So you get open formats, the style guide as a PDF, all colour values for print and screen, and the templates in the programs your team already uses.
